How do you like them apples?

This is the Fruit Wall. Isn't it pretty?

BEFORE

AFTER

Storing your fruit in a bowl is so last century. Carmina Mahugo and Diego Polognioli, the designers behind Fruit Wall, have set up a Kickstarter campaign to bring their creation to the mass market, and into mass production.

I really like this idea of hanging your fruit & veg on the wall, like a constantly changing interactive art piece.

Could be the future of fruit.

I Throw Myself At Men

I Throw Myself At Men is a fascinating project by performance artist Lilly McElroy, in which she literally throws herself at men. Its a really interesting comment on our society and dating.

in her own words:
For this project I went to a lot of bars and I literally threw myself at men who I didn't know. I used my body as a projectile, hurling myself toward strong, vulnerable men who were waiting to catch me. Poised in a perpetual state of social awkwardness and in full possession of the ability to subvert stereotypical gender roles, the photographs pose questions concerning relationships, social connection, sex, gender, and the desire to form relationships quickly that are both intense and long lasting. The project initially started after I placed ads on Craigslist.org looking for men who would meet me blind date style in bars and allow me to throw myself at them. This project comes from a place where the desire to make a positive connection with another person is coupled with the knowledge that a connection might not be possible, that the person might not catch me.

Street Artists...

Swiss artists Sabina Lang and Daniel Baumann take streets, overpasses, soccer fields and other open public spaces and transform them into abstract paintings and a giant scale. It's literally street art.

You can see more of their unique and huge work HERE...

One Two Tree!

How amazing are these Painted trees by Curtis Kilorn? I love the idea of bringing something back to life, its all very appropriate, seeing as we're coming up to Easter...

Curtis says,

“I have a “thing” for trees and see the relationship between humans and trees to be an ever evolving idea which continues to inspire. The trees that I paint are long dead and weathered by hundreds of years. What I do is bring “life” back to the tree in a completely new way. This tree which was once dead is now vibrantly alive to be noticed by all, no longer blending in with all the other dead trees.”

Isabella's Head

If ever there was a fitting tribute to a late fashion icon, "The Head of Isabella Blow, 2002" is it. Dramatic, gothic, and grandiose, the artwork makes use of fifteen taxidermied animals (including a rattlesnake, rat, raven, and six magpies), wood and faux moss, and a Manolo Blahnik heel and lipstick tube both from Blow's personal stash. When spotlighted against a blank surface, the work creates the recognizable silhouette of Blow herself, wearing what looks to be one of her beloved Phillip Treacy hats. Recently donated to London's National Portrait Gallery by British artists (and friends of Blow) Tim Noble and Sue Webster, the macabre work goes on display tomorrow, inviting the public to not only admire the fashion muse, but also contemplate her preoccupation with death and beauty. It will remain on view through March 13.

With all the recent devotion to the late Alexander McQueen, its nice to see his muse and Icon in her own right, Isabella Blow being remembered in her own special way...

Takashi's Castle...

Whoever came up with the idea of having a Takashi Murakami retrospective at the Palace of Versailles is Genius. To be honest it probably was Murakami himself! Anyways what a great contrast and juxapostion to place these contempary wonders in a palace of austiontatious gold and lavishness. Fabulous.

Starry, Starry Night

I am in awe of French artist Michel de Broin and his Nuit Blanche mirror ball instillation. Made up of over 1000 mirrors and hoisted 50 metres abouve the Parisian skyline, for one night only the he recreated what a true starry night looks like.
