/\/\/\Y/\

So the highly anticipated 3rd M.I.A record has a new release date and an official name. /\/\/\Y/\. as in Maya. just spelled with forward and backslashes. Anyways It's now out July 13, pushed back a few weeks from its original June 29 due date. Still it will be the album of the Summer.

Tick Tock Tick Tock

I'm actually quite impressed by how much I've been posting lately, my end of year exhibition is in 2 weeks time and our submission piece is due Friday, so basically I've been distracting myself online the past few weeks. Anyways for the exhibition, I, be difficult and stupid, decided to do a book AND this chandelier type piece that will hang from the ceiling and display my work. It all sounds good in my head. It's just putting it all together that is the problem.

Here is a rough draft of the first few spreads, for some reason I am doing 12 spreads, although I may have to get my Anna on and edit out some of the crap!

I'll post more as I'm going along.

XXXXXXXXXXO

"hottest record in the world right now!" Well if AnnieMac says so it must be true. M.I.A's first official single from the third album will be the fucking utterly delicious XXXO. I know some people are gonna say our Maya has gone mainstream and too pop, but I really don't see why that is a bad thing. Sister has a baby to support, she needs to make her paper! Anyways make of it what you will, I think the track is amazing.

Oh and this is how Maya's name looks in Tamil! Isn't it cool? மாதங்கி 'மாயா' அருள்பிரகாச

Sounds of the Mind

A load of bands have turned window dressers for Selfridges. The project, 'Sounds Of The Mind', asked each of the ten acts involved will design a window with one of their own songs in mind.

Florence & The Machine front lady Florence Welsh stated: "I was really excited about the idea of seeing the lyric to my song portrayed in such an original and exciting way. It's about creating a representation of the song in a visual sense so what a song would look like instead of hearing it."

Perroquet Chic

Solve Sundsbo, noted fashion photographer as Tyra would say, has teamed up with ShowStudio for a more unusual subject matter to shoot, a perroquet. The results are stunning, and just like the rest of his work, very high fashion.

E-40. and I aint talkin bout the face cream

If you did already know I'm not a huge hip-hop fan, I love Missy Elliott, but I wouldn't call her music hardcore Hip-Hop. Anyways I've been listening to E-40’s latest album, Revenue Retrievin’: Night Shift, mostly because the first track on the album, Spend The Night, samples Bjork's Oceanica. Her vocals sound amazing and really carry the track, check it out below.

Maaahdonna!

Madonna, shot by Mert & Marcus for Interview Magazine. I know so many people hate Madonna, just for the fact that shes Madonna, but over the past few years Ive become to feel more and more indifferent to her. I think it might be time for another reinvention...

Inception

Im loving the posters for Christopher Nolan's new thriller (and judging from these posters it's going to be a total mindfuck) Inception. The film stars Nolan's favourites s Cillian Murphy, Ken Watanabe and Michael Caine, aswell as the wonderful Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page and some guy named Leonardo DiCaprio. Great cast huh?

best foot forward...

Shot by Khuong Nguyen, the 2011 “Winter Tales” Louboutin line is amazing! Inspired by fairytales and fantasy, particularly Alice in Wonderland, the campaign is very eye catching and a lot interesting than some model on the edge of a building or in an old rundown house that we are used to seeing...

What a Croc....

Im so easily amused, but look how happy they look with their new Crocs!

MET Gala - The No, just NO

Oh Maggie I love you, but this Louis V dress is just too much, at least she left the jumper at home, can you imagine? Also I can't believe the Mad Men ladies got it wrong (again), they are both on one of the most stylistic shows on TV at the moment and yet they never seem to bring it on the red carpet. As for Kirsten, I don't mind the dress, I just wish she left the sheer sleeves on, and maybe had a little more confidence on the red carpet.

MET Gala - The Meh

Nothing wrong with these dresses, but nothing we havn't seen time and time again on the red carpet either.
