Why Do You Love Me?

I am so glad that Garbage have reformed... My teenage angst phase was largely due to Shirley's shouty lyric's and Butch's guitar riffs.

I was lucky enough to see Shirley sing live one... When on a J1 in San Diego in 09 No Doubt were playing, so it was a no brainer, we had to get tickets. Gwen and company put on an amazing show, but it wasn't until the encore while singing Adam Ant's Stand & Deliver that Gwen roared "SHIRLEY MANSON!"

I remember being in such shock, I couldn't speak, so I just managed to howl a few times, the continued to jump up and down.

Anyways, below is a video of what to expect on the new album...

"Hi, I'm best dressed!"

Is this Stephane Roland dress begging to be worn at the Oscars or what? I could definitely see someone like Tilda Swinton or Cate Blanchett doing it justice!

I Throw Myself At Men

I Throw Myself At Men is a fascinating project by performance artist Lilly McElroy, in which she literally throws herself at men. Its a really interesting comment on our society and dating.

in her own words:
For this project I went to a lot of bars and I literally threw myself at men who I didn't know. I used my body as a projectile, hurling myself toward strong, vulnerable men who were waiting to catch me. Poised in a perpetual state of social awkwardness and in full possession of the ability to subvert stereotypical gender roles, the photographs pose questions concerning relationships, social connection, sex, gender, and the desire to form relationships quickly that are both intense and long lasting. The project initially started after I placed ads on Craigslist.org looking for men who would meet me blind date style in bars and allow me to throw myself at them. This project comes from a place where the desire to make a positive connection with another person is coupled with the knowledge that a connection might not be possible, that the person might not catch me.

This is SPARTAAAA!

You'd hardly think that by looking at this blog as of late that it is actually a design blog! Well I suppose thats the great thing about design, inspiration can come from anywhere!

As for today's inspiration it is definitely this fantastic logo for The Spartan Golf Club. Like all the great logs, its simple, clever and eyecatching!

Speaking of golfing, George Clooney's next project looks very interesting!

Terminally Illin'

Last week this arrived in the post, and I have never been so excited to read a comic book in my life!

Terminally Illin' is the brainchild of Kaylin Andres, a fellow Cancer patient who's blog CANCER IS HILARIOUS provided me with many laughs when I myself was going through Chemo.

The comic was entirely funded on Kickstart, an American website were people can fund projects, the same as Ireland's FundIt.ie...

I donated $20, I know its not a a lot, but at the time I was a poor 22 year old Cancer patient, but my 20 dollar donation did get me a thank you on the Terminally Illin' VIP page. I'm honoured to be able to help this amazing project in any small way that I can!

Feel the Burren!

So lately my friend Jennifer have decided that 2012 is the year we get fit, and not just Wii Fit, actually fit! And seeing as we have the wonderful Burren at our doorstep, we decided to take full advantage of it last weekend and we ventured up on the Mullach Mor hike...

I took about 4 hours, and we stopped for lunch at the peak... but the views are really unlike anywhere else, and its a great workout, you can definitely feel the Burn when climbing up the Burren!

On the way home we stopped by this famous house, Im sure most people will recognize it!

What are your plans for 2012? Let me know!

Never Judge a book by its Cover!

They say never judge a book by its cover, but on this occasion I think it is fair to judge away, because these two books look fantastic!

Both covers were designed by Street Artist Shepard Fairey, famous for his Obey posters, and his Obama HOPE campaign poster.

I read Animal Farm one Sunday afternoon and I really enjoyed it, its crazy to think that a book that was written nearly 60 years ago could be so relevant today.

As for 1984, I shall hold off on reading that for a while, it seems like an intense read, so maybe when I'm feeling more bookish I'll read it.

Have you read either of these classics? What did you think?
