Stockholm is Burning
Paris may not be burning, but Stockholm certainly is.
Last week Sailor Moon battled Wonder Woman in the Vogue Femme Final Battle at the 2013 Streetstar dance festival. As you can see from the above video, it was an intense Vogue battle.
On a related note the wonderful Vogue Ball documentary Paris is Burning is now streaming on Netflix, and I can't recommend it enough.

Adelivison!

How amazing does Adele look on the cover of US Vogue... Last year British Vogue came under harsh critisim for their Adele cover, which featured a close cropped picture of the singers face...
Glad to see that Anna & Co. have chosen to show off her bangin' body, curves and all... even if it does look a little over photoshopped!

Michelle Williams En Vogue

I Love Michelle Williams. Ever since I first saw her falling around drunk on Dawson's Creek, I thought, this girl is going to be a star.
Her latest film, My Week with Marilyn, opening later this month, and I'm really looking forward to seeing this film, and this woman, take on such an iconic role.
Shot by the wonderful Annie Leibovitz, Vogue captures the charisma that Marilyn had, and what made her the world's first true Movie star!

My invite was probably lost in the mail!

So if I was to say Anna, Andre, Marc and Naomi were all in attendance, the cake had cats on it, and the lady of the hour was flame haired fashion living creative legend, then you would hopefully guess that last weekend saw Vogue's Creative Director, Grace Coddington, celebrate her 70th birthday, yes, 70th.
So Happy Birthday Grace, here's to many many more!

Also I picked up the latest issue of Intelligent Life last week and it it such a great magazine. My iPod died and I was on my way home from Edinburgh (more on that trip later) so I decided to cure my boredom with some good old fashioned reading material. The cover story with Grace is so interesting, and gives a great insight into her fantastic career, and real details how her influence changed the way fashion magazines are styled and produced today.

And the nominees are...

The BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund is awarded every year to a designer so they can help develop their brand, with the help of the £200,000 cash prize fund. Among the nominees are Scottish hunk Johnathan Saunders, who talks to Vogue.com in the video below about his plans for the brand.
The overall winner was Christopher Kane. He's not as cute as Johnathan, but its still interesting to hear him talk about what winning would mean to him and his sister Tammy. And I do love his design style, so congratulations Chris & Tammy.

Welcome Back...

After a 6 year absence from designing women's wear, Tom Ford debuts his first collection from the Tom Ford Womens wear line in the December issue of American Vogue, Shot by Steven Meisel. As you can imagine, its kinda a moment!
Ford’s most glamorous women friends and acquaintances, spanning Hollywood, music, society, and high fashion, had all dropped everything to fly in and model for him, no questions asked. With 100 guests seated expectantly, Ford stood by a mantelpiece, in black tie, with a mic, and introduced his cast as “many of the world’s most inspirational women,” proceeding to read out what they were wearing. “Ladies and gentlemen,” he declared, in old style–camp diction: “Please welcome . . . Miss Lauren Hutton, Miss Liya Kebede, Miss Rinko Kikuchi, Miss Rachel Feinstein, Miss Lisa Eisner, Miss Beyoncé Knowles, Miss Marisa Berenson, Miss Stella Tennant, Miss Amber Valletta, Miss Natalia Vodianova, Miss Karen Elson, Miss Lakshmi Menon, Miss Karlie Kloss, Miss Abbey Lee Kershaw, Miss . . . Julianne Moore!” By the time “Miss Rita Wilson” wiggled out, turned, and threw a lingeringly saucy, head-back, hands-on-hip pose in a “corseted fil coupe dress with thigh-high lace boots and black seamed stockings,” the atmosphere was “getting a little giddy!” she says, laughing. “I sensed people really enjoyed it.”
I can only imagine how inspirational that show must have been, as Tom Ford personally introduced each of his muses to the runway. Welcome back, Mr. Ford.
